The one popularly known as the Caminito del Rey de la Axarquía , in the El Saltillo area , in Canillas de Aceituno, is already a reality. The Gran Senda de Málaga incorporates this new and spectacular attraction in its route through the Axarquía in a gorge that connects the municipalities of Sedella and Canillas de Aceituno, very close to B bou Hotel La Viñuela & Spa.
For this, one of the three largest suspension bridges in Spain has been built in natural spaces, over the bed of the Almanchares river, with 50 meters in length and 1.20 meters in width. In addition, the metal walkways located more than one hundred meters high have been arranged and adapted for a safe walk and new paths have been prepared.
This wonderful path improves the conditions of the path, being more comfortable and safe for hikers, and which accentuates the scenic value and the spectacular nature of El Saltillo , on the bed of the Almanchares river, which has the summits of the Natural Park of the mountains of Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama.
The El Saltillo route begins in the central square of Canillas de Aceituno and has a total length of 8 kilometers, round trip, allowing you to enjoy spectacular views of the surroundings.
Unlike the Senda Litoral, the Gran Senda de Málaga itself is completed on its main route. Its layout is made up of five stages and five variants that go through nine regions and fifty-two municipalities in the province. As explained from the Environment area, it is a pioneering route in Andalusia by incorporating the territorial and environmental variety of the entire province, integrating it into a single route that "stimulates" interest in its natural spaces and promoting visits to municipalities.
The route, designed to do it in an anti-clockwise direction, crosses four natural parks (Sierra Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, Sierra de las Nieves -which will soon become a National Park-, Alcornocales and Sierra de Grazalema); two natural reserves (Laguna de Fuente de Piedra and Lagunas de Campillos); to which are added five natural sites: the Gaitanes Gorge, Sierra de Crestellina, Los Reales de Sierra Bermeja, the Guadalhorce mouth and the Torcal de Antequera.
We invite you to know from B bou Hotel La Viñuela & Spa a unique place, being able to take a guided tour by booking from our Reception, advising you on everything necessary to complete a wonderful day of hiking in a unique natural setting with the highest mountain in the province as a witness to the passage of time, "La Maroma".
